Is Asia Already the Epicenter of Cyber Crime? Has Asia Been Breached?

Commerce, Finance, Education, Health, Love, Logistics, Community… so many aspects of life are moving online faster and deeper than ever before with no sign of slowing down. At the same time, we have never been less secure with incidents of phishing, rootkits, bots, DDoS attacks, hacks, hijacks, spyware and malware surging EVERYWHERE with the scope of each reported breach growing exponentially. To make matters worse, with the economic cost of cyber crime and economic espionage fast approaching US$500 billion, experts estimate that cybersecurity standards and effectiveness in Asia, a region with the majority of the world’s population, GDP, online traffic and by far the fasting growing middle class, is years behind those in the United States and Europe and ill equipped to defend itself against this critical threat. What to do!?!?

Our first ever event focused on cybersecurity will be held on Saturday, November 7th at the iconic Sunbeam Theatre in North Point, Hong Kong Island. We will spend a thought provoking afternoon with leading global thinkers, experts and professionals in online security, encryption, digital forensics, blockchain and intelligent global networks. If you are interested in security in the digital age, this event can’t be missed!

Date: Saturday 7 November 2015

Time: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm (Registration starts at 1:00pm)

Venue: Sunbeam Theatre – 423 King’s Road, North Point (near the intersection with Shu Kuk Street)

Official event hashtags are #TEDxHK, #TEDxHKSalon and #TEDx

About TEDx

x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TEDlike experience.  At  a  TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark  deep  discussion  and  connection  in  a  small  group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are selforganized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.) While  we  appreciate  any  coverage,  we  kindly  ask  that  all  journalists  and/or bloggers be respectful of the difference between the TED and TEDx brands. The ‘x’ in ‘TEDx’ stands for “independently organized events.” Any headline or text which implies “TED” is coming to Hong Kong is misleading. For more information on TEDx, visit
