Michael Yung was appointed Head of eProduct & Technology Planning in May 2014, taking charge of Asia Miles IT strategy and the development of a blueprint for the three main streams of e-Commerce: web mobile solutions, online travel experience, and core IT system & applications.
Michael has 30 years of experience in IT, in particular mobile apps and online travel services. Other areas of expertise include web usability, computer security, public key infrastructure technologies,
complex application development and database technologies. He has developed and managed systems for a number of organisations, including Caltex, Cathay Pacific Airways, the HKSAR Government, and SingTel.
Prior to joining Asia Miles, Michael was Group Chief Information Officer of the Next Media Group, managing multiple teams of 150 IT professionals, who took charge of web, mobile, IPTV, Video-on-demand and internal IT platforms for the media group. Michael was instrumental in launching the online news platform and action news channel in Hong Kong and Taiwan for the media group. He also worked for Hutchison-Priceline (Travel) Ltd / ESD Service Ltd as General Manager – eBusiness.
Michael holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management and a bachelor’s in Computer Science from the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He is also a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA®) and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM®).
Photography is a big passion for Michael, and he is accomplished enough to have had his work published in two books, namely Around the World in 80 Photos and Mirror with Memory.
